Consumer activism

 Consumers today are more aware than ever of the environmental footprint of the products they buy, but this awareness is not always matched by transparency. According to studies, nearly 88% of consumers claim that they would prefer to purchase from companies that are environmentally responsible. Yet, many are still in the dark about how much impact their purchases will have once the product reaches its end-of-life. While many consumers want to make environmentally conscious choices, they lack clear, easily accessible information about the true environmental cost of the products they purchase that then become borne by taxpayers or municipal systems.
